SG-Melaka-KL Trip Day 5 (Finally, Kuala Lumpur)

December 2, 2012 (Sunday)

We were supposed to leave early for KL since we wanted to maximize our time  there, but the two girls didn't want to get up early. Since, this was a vacation, we decided to get up a little bit late. Besides, 6 AM in Malaysia is still dark, unlike in Manila.

After taking our shower and getting dressed, we brought our luggage downstairs and left it there while we had breakfast somewhere.
About a block or two away, we found an open restaurant and decided to have our breakfast there.

We got back to the Guesthouse after breakfast and Asri offered to call a cab for us. He told us that the fare would be MYR15. While waiting for the cab, we had a photo taken with our hosts.
When we got to Melaka Sentral, the next bus bound for KL - Puduraya was at 1:00 PM. The Puduraya bus terminal is nearer our hotel and the downtown area, than the TBS. We realized that we do not have enough money to pay for our bus fare. The ticket sellers won't accept credit card and the money changer won't be open till 12 noon. We were in a panic as we might not be able to buy our tickets on time and will have to wait another 2 hours for the next bus. When I placed my hand on my pocket, I found out that I still have MYR5, the change from the cab fare. Enough to pay for our bus tickets as well as to buy a soda.
The bus dropped us off at the basement of the station and unable to find an elevator or escalator, we had to drag our heavy luggage up. When we got to the KL bus station, the first thing we did was to find a money changer. The person manning was out for his afternoon prayers so we had to wait for some time.
Since it was already past 1 PM, we decided to have lunch at their food court found at the 4th level of the bus terminal..
After lunch, we took a cab going to Renaissance Hotel in Jalan Ampang, which is near the Petronas Twin Towers. There are two wings of the hotel: West Wing and East Wing, where we were booked.
When we got into our room, we were surprised to find out that our hotel window faces the twin towers. Also, the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MTAC), which can be seen from our window, is just across the hotel.
After settling in, we decided to go to Petronas and at the same time check out Suria Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). But before going there, we decided to check out the hotel pool and the MTAC to get a copy of the KL map and additional information.
The Suria mall is enormous and photography is limited to some areas only, hence we had only a few shots.
After some window shopping, we decided to have dinner at Nando's, a restaurant we frequented in Australia during our stay from 2005 to 2006.
My wife and daughter spent most our time in Suria at VINCCI (locally known in the Philippines as VNC), and eventually were able to buy a pair of shoes each.
Before going back to our hotel, we took some shots of the Twin Towers as well as some night scenes.
